I wanted a change in color, a deep, dark, and subtle reddish-brown, so I tried the Garnier Nutrisse Nutri-Browns in Roasted Coffee. EPIC FAIL. I got a horrible, neon red. It doesn't look so bad in the pics, but it was McDonald's-clown red in real life:
I remember trying another color from the Nutri-Browns line a long time ago and getting Oompa Loompa Orange hair, so I don't even know why I tried the line again:
I had to do damage control and tone it with a dark, very cool, beige-blonde to counteract the brassy, red tones. I used L'Oreal Excellence Creme in Deep Beige Blonde:
Now my hair is a deep, chesnut-red brown. I'm content for now. It is definitely better than clown hair. The L'Oreal also made my hair extremely soft, so I'm happy with that:
SUMMARY:
Garnier Nutrisse Nutri-Browns : Lifts too much, gives brassy orange, red, or some variation of neon tones. Leaves hair very dry. NEVER AGAIN
L'Oreal Excellence Cream : Good for correcting color, shades run dark , so buy a shade lighter than what you want (i.e. if you want brown, get dark blonde-there's a really good How-to on Makeup Alley by a girl named ArmyBratz? on how to mix this color ). Will try again.

I didn't think that the Roasted Coffee looked bad on you! But I noticed that the Garnier leaves hair a little drier than the L'oreal dyes. But I'm glad u fixed it! =)
@mei-Aww, thanks you're so sweet! The pics couldn't quite capture the Ronald McDonaldness of it all-trust me it was bad LOL!
girl this is definitely your color! You look absolutely stunning ;o)
I agree with your post hun, Garnier leaves hair dry. I love your blog. Hope you could follow me back too
I was googling pictures of Garnier Nutrisse Roasted Coffee to see what the end result color would be, and I read what you had to say about it. I had gotten my hair dyed back to my natural color back in May because I had dyed it Black (have NO idea why...it was just a phase). Anyway, I came across the Roasted Coffee from Garnier and thought it was the closest to my natural color. Thoughts?
