Revlon Colorsilk Luminista Light Golden Brown, getting roots to match lightened hair

In my last hair experiment, I put pure 40 volume l'oreal developer bleach on it. (Don't do it) I liked the color at first, but then it turned brassy with black roots.

BEFORE GROSS-NESS:

NEW FORMULA:
1.) L'oreal HiColor highlights Ash Blonde + L'oreal 40 volume developer on roots 20 minutes.
2.) Brush out and leave for 5 more minutes:
3.) Add Born Blond toner to conditioner, rinse. Color will be darker because of toner.

AFTER:

The dark brown color from the toner faded after a week or so of shampooing.

AFTER FADING:

This is what it looked like under yellow, bathroom light. It has more of a red tone but my roots are still visible:

Because my roots still had a visible band from the new hair vs. dark hair, I applied Revlon Colorsilk Luminista in 170 Light Golden Brown all over. I did this about a week later:

It is finally even throughout and the right "J. Lo" color I wanted.
FINAL COLOR:

FYI : I fried the crap out of my hair, so be careful. I love the color though, so I don't mind.

wow this is so weird i just colored my hair as well and I am loving it! Your hair looks really pretty. I also used a bleach a while ago and it really does dry out your hair :( I regret that I did it but at the time I loved the lightness of it. Thanks for the post.

@Diana-lol I can't believe we both used bleach! My hair is SO dry-I'm using Aussie 3 minute miracle to help recondition

@Leah- aw, you're so sweet! If you want to get the black dye to fade faster, shampoo with cheap shampoo or dishwashing liquid -it will help wash the color out but it will also dry out your hair a little. Most dye eventually washes out, so don't worry! =)

Great color Results!!! How is your hair color holding up?

I'm actually planning on using Luminista Colorsilk Medium Blonde on my dark brown hair. I'm a bit skeptical about the color results, it's a fairly new product and there is hardly any reviews about Luminista but yours and another on Luminista Colorsilk the color Red.

I have a question, did you use the 40 developer with your Luminista Colorsilk or did you use the one that came in the box?
